Composites made from renewable natural fibres can be an alternative to conventional materials, such as glass or carbon fibres, for automotive and sports applications, due to their low density and good mechanical properties. The processing of unidirectional fibre tapes into multiaxial non-crimp fabrics offers advantages for natural fibres too, e.g. thinner individual layers and thus better impregnation performance compared to non-crimp fabrics made of single yarns.
