Fabric analysis (WKA-S,WKA-J,WKA-D,WKA-M)

Course title Course title: WKA-S,WKA-J,WKA-D,WKA-M

This training course deals with the analysis and design of different warp-knit patterns and/or fabric samples. The WKA-S course will focus at products from high-performance tricot and raschel machine. The WKA-J course pays attention to the patterns from RSJ machine serials. The WKA-D will deal with different spacer fabrics from Karl Mayer double needle bar machine.And the WKA-M will introduce the lace products from multi-bar lace machine.

Target group

Users with experience in warp knitting, such as product developers, production managers, staff belonging to the management, as well as employees from pattern drafting and pattern preparation sections.

Training requirements

Karl Mayer WKB Certificate and/or comparable knowledge. Readiness for team work and open-mindedness within a cross-cultural work group.

  1. WKA-S (1 week course)
    • General machine information on the basis of the Karl Mayer machinery program
    • Recognition of bindings, preparation of lapping diagrams
    • Introductionof Procad warp knit system
    • Fabric analysis of plain fabric
    • Fabric analysis of elastic fabric
    • Fabric analysis of velour fabrics
    • Fabric study on mesh and net constructions
    • Fabric Calculations, e.g. yarn count, yarn run-in, fabric weight, production capacity and efficiency, warping length and warping ends
  2. WKA-J (1 week course)
    • General information on machines, based on the Karl Mayer RSJ machines
    • Introduction of the jacquard lapping principle
    • Jacquard fabric design with ground
    • Jacquard fabric design without ground
    • The fabric panel separation technology
    • Introduction to Procadsystem, for development of lappings and archiving of all the pattern data
  3. WKA-D (1 week course)
    • General information on machines, based on the Karl Mayer machine types for the manufacture of double-needle bar warp-knits 
    • single needle bar lapping drafts, and transfer to double needle bar
    • Fabric structures formed at front or back needle bars
    • Spacer lapping structure and its effect
    • Introduction of Procad warp knit system
    • Fabric Calculations, e.g. yarn count, yarn run-in, fabric weight, production capacity and efficiency, warping length and warping ends
  4. WKA-M (1 week course)
    • General information on machines, based on the Karl Mayer lace machines
    • Guide bars configuration and arrangement
    • Introduction of ground lapping structure
    • Introduction of the jacquard lapping principle
    • Introduction of the multi-bar lapping principle
    • The fabric panel separation technology
    • Introduction to Procad system, for development of lappings and archiving of all the pattern data
