Textile reinforcements made of carbon fibres are ecologically and economically favourable alternatives to steel reinforcements in concrete construction. Resources can be conserved and the environmental impact reduced thanks to their outstanding material properties, in particular the lack of corrosion, the associated low concrete coverage, and the much higher strength compared to conventional steel-reinforced concrete. Delicate designs and reduced wall thicknesses can be realised thanks to their lightness and flexibility, massively altering and expanding the design possibilities of architects, engineers and prefabricated component manufacturers.
