The recently launched SIM.PLY thermoplastic line from KARL MAYER Technische Textilien will be presented at the K trade fair
KARL MAYER Technische Textilien is extending its operations along the way to becoming a systems supplier for the production of dry and impregnated multiaxial textiles. These non-crimped fabrics (NCFs) are an important basis for the production of lightweight structural components. This company launched the SIM.PLY, a new line for producing thermoplastic, unidirectional, fibre-reinforced tapes (UD tapes), at the last ITMA 2019 trade fair in Barcelona. KARL MAYER Technische Textilien is now also taking a new approach to its marketing activities. This specialist in NCFs will be exhibiting for the first time at the K trade fair – a show that also targets the users. The K 2019 show will take place from 16 to 23 October in Düsseldorf.

KARL MAYER Technische Textilien is one of the co-exhibitors operating under the umbrella of Composites Germany in hall 7A on stand CO2. The new SIM.PLY line will be at the centre of the presentation. Dr. Jürgen Tröltzsch, Senior Manager of New Technologies at KARL MAYER Technische Textilien GmbH in Chemnitz, will be showing the first products produced on this innovative thermoplastic line, together with pictures and video material. This expert in lightweight construction is hoping to make new contacts among plastics processors in Düsseldorf, and also to publicise the system. “We want to strengthen and expand our image as an expert player in the production of dry and impregnated, reinforcing, multiaxial textiles at the interface between textiles and plastics,” says Dr. Jürgen Tröltzsch. Dr. Jürgen Tröltzsch is also hoping to gather impulses for further development work on the new SIM.PLY products and their end-use possibilities. The high-quality tapes, with their precisely aligned, continuous fibres, are perfect for use in highly stressed, fibre-reinforced, lightweight structures. The thermoplastic matrix means that they are easy to process, which makes large-scale production feasible. The SIM.PLY also favours mass production by operating at a high production rate and enabling tapes in wide range of widths to be produced.
