Networks for a good urban climate

Launch of the VERD flexible greening system from OMC°C with warp knitted nets

The climate crisis has arrived and is having an impact, particularly in metropolitan areas, with life-threateningly high temperatures. To provide public spaces with cooling and a better quality of life, new solutions are needed - and already on offer, as demonstrated by the flexible VERD greening system from the Frankfurt-based OFFICE FOR MICRO CLIMATE CULTIVATION (OMC°C). The innovative system uses fast-growing climbing plants that entwine on warp knitted nets in a storm-proof lightweight construction to create shady areas from spring to summer. At the same time, CO2 is bound. In the fall, the green sails are hauled down before the first falling leaves call the city cleaning service to the scene. The VERD system can be flexibly placed and designed in a variety of ways thanks to its modular structure. It places only minimal demands on the location and interferes only minimally, if at all, with the ground.

The launch of the sophisticated offering for urban vertical greening was on July 20, 2023, at the opening of the first real laboratory with the VERD system in Frankfurt am Main.
